Artist's Comments

I'm exploring the visual qualities of breath. I particularly love how our breath materialises in winter. But it doesn't get cold in Sydney for breathing to become visible enough. So I looked at smoking which is a much more exaggerated form. The smoke didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. I wanted it to be more indistinct and softer, hazier. I might get my friend to pose for me again.

I see your breath hanging there

It does get cold enough out here on the western outskirts ! However I'm never awake early enough to enjoy such things anymore :P

I quite like this, anyway. Even though smoking is incredibly bad for you! And the model is quite gorgeous :)

you made her look very seductive

Very nice.

Thank you, Collette :)

i thought today about how a person will hold thier breath subconsciously in anticipation, drawing a breath after the outcome has unfolded.
sorry im rambling as well., excellent concept and I hope to see a continuation.
:iconluckyred:
nah it's cool. I don't think you've rambled anyway :)

what you said made me think of this quote:

"To take a breath means to feel one’s emotions, that when we wish not to feel, we stop breathing and hold our breath instead."
- Clarissa Pinkola Estès

sometimes i forget to breathe.
i love how you look at the world,
i want to hear more and more and more
because i can't compose myself enough to tell people what i really see and wonder

I have to remind myself to breathe more deeply.

I know what you mean.
If you keep looking, sometimes that'll be enough to spark something.
I guess it's practice as well..
Something I need to do more of.

most importantly practice
